Today, the sun shone down on the Motorcoach Resort SLW course with a perfect high of 77 degrees—a fitting backdrop for the inaugural The Clacker Classic. After a week delay due to the winter chill, 48 players gathered not just for the thrill of the game, but to honor the memory of a man who truly defined our community spirit: Charlie Burch.

The "clack" of the ball was accompanied by laughter, shared cookies, and even a few tears as neighbors took turns speaking about how Charlie touched their lives. Between the competitive rounds, players paused to view photos of Charlie and visit the newly dedicated memorial bench. Seeing the plaque, “In Loving Memory Charlie Burch,” served as a beautiful reminder that while he may no longer be on the course with us, his presence is felt in every handshake and every game played.

On the competitive side, the play was intense! We are proud to announce our first-ever Clacker Classic champions:
  • 1st Place: Serge Desforges
  • 2nd Place: Keith Sobol
  • 3rd Place: Milton Saba

It was a perfect day to kick off a new tradition. Thank you to everyone who came out to play, share a story, and make this first tournament so meaningful. We look forward to seeing the "Clacker Classic" grow, keeping Charlie’s memory, and others, alive through the game he loved so much.

Have you been wondering how the Property Improvement Committee (“PIC”) is coming along with the Long Term Plan for improvements to our Resort?  Well, we thought the best way to communicate about the history of the Long Term Plan, current initiatives and progress, and future prospects was to provide a webpage dedicated to all things Long Term Planning!

The Long Term Plan webpage can be found here: https://www.mcrslw.com/property-improvement-committee/

It is also located under the RESORT NEWS > MCRSLW LONG RANGE PLANNING on our main webpage.

Through regular Palm Post installments, we aim to provide you with reminders to check the webpage for detailed information regarding current discussions with the architect and designer and proposals for both shorter and longer-term improvements that coordinate and complement the long-term plan, and plans for upcoming meetings with the owners to share information and obtain input.

Questions for the PIC can be directed to:  mcrslwpic@gmail.com

The sun went down, but the energy went way up last night as we hosted our 3rd Annual Glow Golf event! On January 10, the course was transformed from a traditional green into a "luminescent lunacy" wonderland, and the results were nothing short of magical.

A New Way to Play

This year, the Sponsors and Committee took things to the next level. Thanks to their hard work, the course featured brand-new lighted flagsticks, tee markers, and hazard markers, creating a neon-lit path through all eighteen holes.

The real stars of the show, however, were the golf balls. As they soared through the night sky, they looked like shooting stars, a sight that had everyone, from seasoned pros to casual "night owls," cheering from the fairway.

The festivities officially kicked off at 6:30 PM sharp with a synchronized blast from the air-horns, signaling the shotgun start and sending a wave of excitement across the grounds.

Keeping the Momentum Moving

With such a fantastic turnout, we expanded the play to utilize both the front and back nines. This required some serious coordination, and we want to give a huge shout-out to our shuttle drivers! These volunteers worked tirelessly to move players to their starting holes and navigate the transitions between holes 9 to 1 and 18 to 10. Their efforts kept the "luminescent lunacy" flowing smoothly and ensured everyone stayed on track for a great night of golf.

Hospitality at Every Turn

No great event is complete without refreshments, and our sponsors and neighbors truly stepped up to the plate.
  • The clubhouse was stocked with beer, soda, and water to keep everyone hydrated.
  • The roaming "beverage" cart made its rounds throughout the night, ensuring no one went thirsty between holes.
  • A huge thank you to the owners who set up "happy hour" stations at their casitas and tikis! These stops added a wonderful sense of community and extra cheer to the evening’s festivities.

Our Sincere Thanks

An event of this scale wouldn't be possible without the generous support of our community partners. A massive shout-out to our sponsors:
  • WilDar Golf Carts
  • LangRealty - Linnie Luoma, PA

Thank you for helping us turn a night of golf into an unforgettable experience. Whether you were there for the competition or just the glow-in-the-dark vibes, it’s clear that this tradition is brighter than ever.

See you all next year under the neon sky!

There’s something magical about the hum of electric motors and the sound of bells jingling through the air. This past week, our resort streets were transformed into a winter wonderland … on wheels!

14 Sleighs (on Wheels!)

This year’s Christmas Golf Cart Parade was a resounding success. A spirited fleet of 14 uniquely decorated carts lined up to spread holiday cheer, proving that you don’t need a sleigh and eight reindeer to deliver a little magic.

From classic tinsel-wrapped rooftops to carts sporting full light displays and booming speakers, the creativity was on full display. The parade route was ambitious, successfully covering every single street in the resort, ensuring no neighbor was left without a dose of Christmas spirit.

As holiday classics echoed through the palms, residents stepped out of their coaches to wave and cheer. It wasn’t just a parade; it was a rolling symphony of camaraderie. A huge thank you to everyone who spent hours stringing lights and tuning their playlists; you made this a night to remember!

Festivities at the Finish Line

As the parade engines cooled down, the celebration was just getting started. Residents gathered to keep the "merriment flowing" at the post-parade social.

The air was filled with the sounds of holiday favorites as the music set the perfect backdrop for a quintessential Christmas Eve. The Cookie Exchange was a highlight of the night, featuring a delicious variety of home-baked favorites that kept the sweetness of the season alive. Between the treats and the open bar, there was no shortage of festive fuel to keep the conversations going long into the evening.

Events like these remind us why our resort is such a special place to call home. Whether you were driving a cart, sharing your favorite cookie recipe, or simply waving as the music passed by, thank you for being part of this year's Christmas Eve magic.

It was the perfect way to share some cheer before Santa made his final rounds!
