The tension was palpable this week as the MotorCoach Resort Dart League wrapped up its season with a series of high-stakes matches. Between the Tuesday and Thursday divisions, the finals delivered exceptional skill, teamwork, and some truly legendary individual performances.

Tuesday’s Tactical Triumph: A Solo Stand

On the Tuesday side of the bracket, the story of the night was C. Ducharme, who found herself playing without her partner, L. Bruneau. In an incredible display of focus and "iron man" stamina, Ducharme played solo against the doubles field, taking on every team by herself.

She fought her way through the quarter-finals and semi-finals to reach the championship round, a remarkable achievement in league history. Ultimately, she met the powerhouse duo of C. Beck and J. Kundle, who showcased clinical finishing to win the final 2-0. While Beck and Kundle took home the Tuesday title, Ducharme’s solo run to the finals will be talked about for seasons to come.

Thursday Night Thrillers

The Thursday night division saw a deep field of competitors whittled down through a series of intense knockout rounds. T. Grigas and K. Sobol put on a masterclass in consistency, navigating through the quarter-finals and overcoming a tough semi-final challenge to reach the championship round.

The championship match was the highlight of the night, featuring a showdown between Grigas/Sobol and the formidable duo of F. Jones and L. Solski. In a match that went down to the wire, Grigas and Sobol secured the title with a narrow 2-1 victory, earning them the Thursday Night Championship.

The stadium lights were bright, the popcorn was salty, and the golf cart caravan was long! Last night, over 150 residents from the MotorCoach Resort traded the resort life for the baseline, heading just down the road to Clover Park to watch the New York Mets take on the Washington Nationals.

The Caravan to the Park

In true resort style, we made an entrance. A parade of 25+ golf carts lined up in the parking area, a sight that definitely turned some heads! It’s not every day the stadium sees a fleet like ours, and it made the short trip across the road feel like a true community event.

Game Highlights & Shenanigans

While the Nationals took the win 12 - 6, the real action was in the stands and between the innings. The stadium keep the energy high with some hilarious side games. We saw kids chipping golf balls into nets, "throwing bacon" into pans, and some high-stakes bean bag tosses.

A few special highlights from our section:
  • The Big Shout-Out: We were officially welcomed over the PA system with a "Thanks" to the MotorCoach Resort group!
  • The Ultimate Souvenir: One lucky member of our group managed to snag a foul ball, a perfect memento of the night.
  • Mets Super-Fan Intel: A couple of our residents got a masterclass in baseball stats. They spent the evening chatting with a local super-fan who follows the Mets to every single Spring Training game. We now have enough "inside info" on the players to last us the whole season!
Food, Fun, and Fair Weather

No ballgame is complete without the classics. The group stayed fueled on stadium popcorn, hot dogs, and cold drinks. And while the clouds looked a bit threatening, the Florida weather cooperated just long enough, the rain held out until the final out of the 9th inning was made.

Our crew looking sharp in the stands at Clover Park!

The MCRSLW "Cavalry" parked and ready for game time.

Whether you were there for the stats, the snacks, or the social hour, it was a fantastic night showing the Mets how we roll. Thanks to everyone who came out to make it such a huge success!

A Special Thanks

A huge "thank you" goes out to Rick Turner for coordinating the tickets and logistics for such a massive group. Organizing 150+ people and a 25+ cart caravan is no small feat! Thanks for making sure the only thing we had to worry about was whether to get extra mustard on our hot dogs.

The final day of the shuffleboard season on March 12, 2026, was filled with high stakes, fierce competition, and a touch of Florida heat. With a warm, steady breeze blowing across the courts, players gathered for an intense series of semi-finals and a championship match that will go down in league history.

The Road to the Finals

The semi-final action kicked off at 11:00 am, with two intense battles deciding who would move on to the championship. On Court 1, the match between Team 31 (G. Upton and K. McCartney) and Team 13 (C. Cantelon and J. Cantelon). Team 13 proved their consistency by winning two straight matches to secure their spot.

On Court 4, the match between Team 14 (R. Fox and J. Abt Fox) and Team 23 (S. & S. Hansen) was a real nail-biter. After trading wins in the first two matches, Team 23 pulled off a decisive victory in the third match to punch their ticket to the finals.

A Championship for the Ages

By 12:00 pm, the stage was set for the Grand Final on Court 4. The atmosphere was electric as Team 23 and Team 13 faced off with black and yellow discs.

Team 23 struck first, taking the opening match with poise. However, Team 13 refused to fold, storming back to win the second match and force a deciding third. The final match became an instant classic.

With Team 13 trailing 43 to 47 and Team 23 sitting on a commanding 22 points on the board, C. Cantelon stepped up for what many are already calling the greatest shuffleboard shot of all time. In a moment of pure brilliance, she cleared the board of all opponent points. Riding that momentum, Team 13 rallied in the final round to clinch the match and the championship title.

Season Wrap-Up

The final match concluded at 12:55 pm, marking the end of a highly competitive and welcoming season. We have captured the action with photos of our semi-finalists and finalists, and, most importantly, the winning moment is preserved in our video gallery for everyone to enjoy.

Congratulations to the Cantelon team for their championship victory, and a heartfelt thank you to all our players for making this season such a success. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the courts soon!

Champions! C. and J. Cantelon receive their trophies from League Lead Tom Kmiec
after an incredible end to the season.

The Semi-Final Showdown

The competition featured four-player teams battling to a score of 15. On Court 1, the Thursday league representatives faced off. Team T04 (S. Cross, T. Iannarelli, M. Modesitt, and B. Hamlin) delivered a commanding performance against Team T16 (B. & L. Francis and D. & P. Stout), securing their spot in the finals with a 15–3 victory.

Over on Court 2, the Saturday league teams went head-to-head. Team S08 (H. & R. Wattles, C. Boothe, and M. Dellert) showed great precision, defeating Team S02 (K. McCartney, G. Upton, and M. & B. Doyle) with a final score of 15–7.

A Hard-Fought Championship

With the stage set for the finals, a coin toss determined the field of play. Court 2 won the toss, and the championship match between T04 and S08 officially began at 9:32 AM.

The final match was a testament to the skill present in the league. Every frame was a battle of inches, with players frequently measuring to determine the winning point. Ultimately, Team T04 surged ahead to claim the championship title with a 15–5 win over Team S08.
