The stadium lights were bright, the popcorn was salty, and the golf cart caravan was long! Last night, over 150 residents from the MotorCoach Resort traded the resort life for the baseline, heading just down the road to Clover Park to watch the New York Mets take on the Washington Nationals.
The Caravan to the Park
In true resort style, we made an entrance. A parade of 25+ golf carts lined up in the parking area, a sight that definitely turned some heads! It’s not every day the stadium sees a fleet like ours, and it made the short trip across the road feel like a true community event.
Game Highlights & Shenanigans
While the Nationals took the win 12 - 6, the real action was in the stands and between the innings. The stadium keep the energy high with some hilarious side games. We saw kids chipping golf balls into nets, "throwing bacon" into pans, and some high-stakes bean bag tosses.
A few special highlights from our section:
- The Big Shout-Out: We were officially welcomed over the PA system with a "Thanks" to the MotorCoach Resort group!
- The Ultimate Souvenir: One lucky member of our group managed to snag a foul ball, a perfect memento of the night.
- Mets Super-Fan Intel: A couple of our residents got a masterclass in baseball stats. They spent the evening chatting with a local super-fan who follows the Mets to every single Spring Training game. We now have enough "inside info" on the players to last us the whole season!
Food, Fun, and Fair Weather
No ballgame is complete without the classics. The group stayed fueled on stadium popcorn, hot dogs, and cold drinks. And while the clouds looked a bit threatening, the Florida weather cooperated just long enough, the rain held out until the final out of the 9th inning was made.
Our crew looking sharp in the stands at Clover Park!
The MCRSLW "Cavalry" parked and ready for game time.
Whether you were there for the stats, the snacks, or the social hour, it was a fantastic night showing the Mets how we roll. Thanks to everyone who came out to make it such a huge success!
A Special Thanks
A huge "thank you" goes out to Rick Turner for coordinating the tickets and logistics for such a massive group. Organizing 150+ people and a 25+ cart caravan is no small feat! Thanks for making sure the only thing we had to worry about was whether to get extra mustard on our hot dogs.
